Interpreting pain

pain as poetry

If there’s anything I love more than writing it’s talking. I can talk forever, I love the weaving in and out of ideas in conversation. Or when someone says something that sticks with you and unlocks an aspect of yourself you didn’t know was there before.

I want to talk more so I’m starting this fast and loose series where I’ll be talking about my journey interpreting pain in my body, specifically from getting a diagnosis a couple of years ago of spondylosis. Having to live with a new sense of caring for my body has changed everything, I would say for the better. Not being able to walk twice in one year was extremely scary and in addition trying to make ends meet while balancing health issues was very hard, nearly impossible. I feel I’m on the other side, being able to manage my pain and continue healing. I remember the intense fear and the “my life is over” vibe, but really, in attempting to interpret my body’s pain as an art in itself, pain as poetry, I started listening and changing the direction of my life to something more suitable and connected to my essence.

So, this is the start of documenting this journey and where it’s brought me. Perhaps its just storytelling, or there’s something here. We’ll see if it sticks.

:> (hit that listen above to hear the rambling)
